IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS TO ALL ASEAN IUC DELEGATES

TRAVEL ADVISORY AND LOGISTICS INFORMATION
Travel to Manila
Depending on your airline, you will arrive in Manila either at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), or the Philippine Airlines Centennial Terminal, or in Clark at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.
We hope you have coordinated with Ms. April Sumaylo (am_sumaylo@yahoo.com) regarding your arrivals. If not, make sure to inform her of your flight details so we can know when to expect you.
Airport Pick-up
Participants coming from countries outside the Philippines must arrange their airport pick-up and transfer to their respective hotels.
In case of emergencies or unexpected delays, please contact the AIUC office at 632-920-6866 or Ms. Airah Cadiogan at 0916-5705860.
Other Matters
Currency Exchange - It is highly advisable for you to change your money at the currency exchange counter in your airport of departure. You may also opt to have it changed when you arrive here at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). It is relatively difficult to exchange Asian currencies in Manila. Major currencies such as US Dollar, Euro and Yen are the ones generally accepted.
Weather - It is currently summer in Manila. Expect it to be hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 28-33 degrees centigrade. Also expect intermittent light drizzles and heavy rains as the rainy season is approaching. The conference venue, however, is fully air-conditioned. So please pack your belongings accordingly.
Conference Venue - The conference will be held at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila. It is around 7 kms. away from NAIA. Close by are the Philippine Convention Center and Cultural Center of the Philippines, just across Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and Harrison Plaza Shopping Complex, as well as 10-minute ride to the World Trade Center (www.centurypark.com).
Security and General Reminders - Manila is known to be a dangerous and unsafe city. While this may not be entirely true, it is always better to be cautious. From the airport, make sure your belongings are properly secured and do not go along with people who are not identified or properly introduced to you as staff members of NAIA. At the hotel, also make sure to take instructions only from conference organizers or hotel staff members, who shall be wearing their ID tags at all times.
Avoid walking the streets alone or at night, especially for foreigners. Do not take your valuables, such as jewelry, laptop computers and other gadgets, or large sums of money, when you step out of the hotel. If you need to purchase something outside, better inform the conference or hotel staff and take a companion.

Note: Public Affairs personnel will carry a nameplate with the conference name & official ASEAN IUC logo (sarimanok).
- From the concourse, they will lead you to the Immigration. Kindly present your passport & other pertinent documents to the authority in charge.

- For Terminal 1, banks line up at the Lobby Area, just outside Baggage Claim section (see map below).
- For Terminal 2 (Philippine Airlines Flight Only), a bank can be seen near the baggage claim area (see map below). All banks in both Terminals 1 & 2 offer currency exchange service. You may need to change from your respective currency to Philippine pesos.
- If you have already made arrangements with SNY travel & tour agency as indicated in the 8th ASEAN IUC website (check: http://www.asean8iuc.net/announcements.html) for a shuttle service, kindly inform your escorts so they may properly endorse you to the representative of the said tour agency. If you have not availed this service, your escorts will kindly lead you up to the exit or the curb side area where metered & fixed rates taxis are located.
- Taxi locations for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 differ. Please refer to respective Terminals 1 and 2 maps below for your guidance.
- Metered taxis (colored yellow) for both terminals have flag down rate of Php 70.00 or about USD 1.65 & charge PhP 4.00 for every succeeding 1000 meters. Going to Century Park Hotel, the estimate fare is PhP 250.00 or about USD 7.00 for metered taxis.

- Please send us your flight details a week before your flight so we can assist you better.
Flight details include: your name & country, position, date & time of arrival, airline & flight number.
- With regards security, as in any country, there are isolated cases of crime. We believe there will be no problems in security. The hotel is equipped with security measures installed as SOP.
- The situation in the country is favorable. The Mayor of Manila is one of our sponsors & will surely not allow his city to be put in a bad light. Rest assured that your safety will be taken cared of.
